How do I post a job announcement?
The last update to this page was 1-28-08.

It's easy!
Just send MERC your job announcement via e-mail or snail mail (see below). We'll post the job, list it in our RSS feed, and send you an invoice for payment (please let us know if you would like an e-mail invoice).
About the Museum Employment Resource Center:
MERC has been listing jobs for the museum and cultural resource communities since March, 1996. We are the oldest such service on the internet and, on average, over 900 employment seekers visit our website each day. As of January, 2008, we have posted jobs for over 1,800 museums. Answers to frequently asked questions about MERC can be found here.
How much does it cost to post a job?
The fee for posting a job announcement sent via e-mail is $29.00 regardless of word count. The fee for each job announcement sent on paper via snail mail is $59.00.
These fees apply to each job sent to MERC. If multiple position openings are listed in the same job description, the $29.00 fee will be charged for each job mentioned.
Positions are listed for 12 weeks. Posting costs cannot be pro-rated for a shorter posting length.
What methods of payment does MERC accept?
MERC accepts payment via credit card (through PayPal), and via check or money order. (Please note that organizations outside the United States must pay via credit card.)
To Pay Via Credit Card
After a job has been posted, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that contains a hyperlink to the PayPal secure server. Clicking on the link will allow you to safely pay via credit card.
To Pay Via Check or Money Order
If payment with credit card is not made within three days, MERC will send a snail mail invoice to your billing address which can be paid via check or money order.

To post a job announcement, MERC will need one of the following:
- The job announcement e-mailed to submitjob@museum-employment.com as a word processing file
- The job announcement on paper, snail mailed to:
MERC
PO Box 20951
Cheyenne, WY 82003-7019
USA

We ask that all job announcements include the following:
- the MERC category your job should be posted under,
- position title (ie. Curator of Plains Indian Artifacts),
- museum name,
- city, state, and country of museum location,
- your billing address.

You will be notified via e-mail when your job has been posted.
All job announcements will be posted for twelve weeks (less if requested).
Jobs are generally posted within two days.
Special requests for the removal of ads may take from five to seven days. Please note that numerous websites around the world "appropriate" job listings from MERC without asking our permission. We have no control over the removal of information on those sites.
When you send information to MERC, avoid tabs and don't use special fonts or special characters.
You should have no formatting beyond left aligned, bold, italic, and/or plain text.
Please note that MERC will not post a graphic in your ad.
